Cancer drugs may help to control blood pressure

Researchers from Georgetown University say that drugs suppressing the growth of cancer tumors also affect blood pressure. These are fibroblast growth factor inhibitors involved in angiogenesis (new blood vessels formation).

According to the experts, currently there are many antihypertensive drugs. However, they are not suitable for all patients. A new study has shown that fibroblast growth factor inhibitors can regulate blood pressure, The Deccan Chronicle reports.

Earlier, scientists from China have found that intensive treatment of gum disease helps to lower blood pressure in people with prehypertension. Intensive treatment included a standard treatment (basic recommendations for oral hygiene and tooth brushing to remove dental deposit), as well as deep tooth brushing, antibiotics intake and dental extraction, if necessary.
