An electronic skin with self-recover feature was designed

Electronic skin is a thin translucent material simulating human skin. It is used in robotics and prosthetics. Scientists of the University of Colorado have applied a new technology that makes the electronic skin more sensitive to touch, as well as they implemented the self-recover feature, The Deccan Chronicle reports.

The artificial skin has sensors to measure pressure, temperature, humidity and air. The new invention is based on a special polymer - polyimine. The scientists covered the polymer with silver nanoparticles that made it possible to make the product stronger and chemically stable.

This electronic skin is very flexible and easily takes the required shape. Another advantage of the new skin is self-recovery. This will ensure the durability of the invention. Also the electronic skin can be recycled completely. For this purpose, the material is placed in a special solution.
