Mysterious fever kills children

The viral fever swept across the western state of Uttar Pradesh and took 68 lives, including children. The victims complained of nonspecific symptoms - high fever and dehydration, and the doctors also discovered severe thrombocytopenia. More than 50% of patients experienced dengue-like manifestations and died during the treatment. Those who managed to survive took about two weeks to recover.

In one day, 12 children died from the viral fever. Scientists say that none of these cases is associated with coronavirus infection, as it happened earlier with mucormycosis outbreak. The chief medical superintendent at College of Medicine's said that they are increasing the number of beds for patients with an unknown infection.
