Researchers are sure that a universal remedy against malaria is found

A team of scientists has discovered a new human antibody that can prevent malaria infection. This happens due to involving a special part of the surface protein, which is available in almost all types of malarial parasite, Zee News reports. This antibody (CIS43) has a better protection against malaria than any other known antibody.

This discovery belongs to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. It is also important where this antibody is attached to the surface protein CSP. Based on these data, it is possible to create a vaccine that will make the body to produce salvage antibodies. It is known that within the framework of the studies, the antibody was isolated from the body of person, who has received an experimental vaccine with a whole, but weakened malarial parasite.

There are some reasons to believe that the drug with a new antibody can ensure a protection for up to six months. For comparison: today’s drugs are required to be taken every day. By the way, there is one more experimental vaccine - RTS,S. According to the study results, this vaccine protected one third of children from malaria. Today, it is in the third phase of testing.
